University of
Wollongong, Shoalhaven Campus has extended its
creative collaboration to include a China /
Australia project called "Parallel Dreams", working
together with Shoalhaven artist Anna Glynn is
supporting the development of an ongoing
relationship between the two countries through the
creative arts ands also through artist in residence
exchanges.
Glynn has become intrigued & entranced with
China. It all started with an exhibition in
Shanghai in 2006 and she recently returned from 6
weeks in 2007 of exhibitions and adventures. She is
excited to report after 18 months of planning that
she will be heading off to do an Artist in
Residence in Liaoning Province (Northern China)
this year to work with contemporary Chinese artist
Wu GuoWei for 3 months.
She
hopes to learn a lot, behave herself and be a good
Australian ambassador. Plans are also currently
underway to enable Wu GuoWei to come to Australia
as artist in residence.
Glynn's fabulous husband / curator / assistant
Peter has joined her in this enchantment and will
be accompanying her on this work trip to northern
China where they will eat more strange things and
hopefully learn more Mandarin which might come in
handy one day when chatting with our new PM!
The Australia China Council has awarded Anna a
grant to cover some of her artist in residence
costs however she is currently coming up with other
fun and inventive ways to raise funds for this
exciting adventure.
This
months plan is the Shoalhaven and Shanghai Studio
Sale where she is inviting colleagues, friends and
supporters to share in her love of these two places
through some of her limited edition unframed
lithographs.
They are hand
printed using the traditional technique of Kelheim
stone on a local press in Berry and are on fine
quality art paper. These are numbered limited
editions and there are only a few of some of the
prints available. If you are interested she will
also arrange to either get the works delivered to
you if you are local, or will cover postage to you
in Australia.
