Walking hand in hand for Justice, Compassion and Equity.

Allawah darugah nora "Sit down in Darug land" which is the ancient formal greeting of the Koori people of the Penrith area. These words set the tone for the nation's first "Walk for Reconciliation" which took place in Penrith on Saturday November lst. and culminated in festival of music and celebration including dances from Shoalhaven's Doonooch Dancers.

Over 2000 people walked led by eight Darug elders plus plus local MPs Jackie Kelly and Faye Lo Po, Mayor Kevin Dwyer and Noel Pearson, Cape York Land Coucil Chairman. The Penrith Greens also took part in the walk.

The Walk for Reconciliation was co-operation between The Darug Aboriginal People, Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islanders who have settled in the region, Awakening 2000, Penrith City Council, Panthers, University of Western Sydney,Radio Rhema and the Penrith Combined Christian Churches.

Congratulations to all who took part.

Why not a Walk for Reconcilation in the Shoalhaven?
