WOMBAT AWARDS 2004

BEST WALK - Folly Point - with the Shoalhaven Bushwalkers in September - after Max and I battled the trip in August I was in a much more positive frame of mind for the second run

WORST WALK - Rusden Head to Florance Head recce with Max. We thought we would have very little trouble with the thick scrub going offtrack, it turned out to be a nightmare.

BEST OTHER ACTIVITY - Kayaking, especially in the Narrawallee area

TOUGHEST WALK - The Recce to Barringella Hill with Brett in March, it was hot, dusty, there were snakes and we got covered in charcoal from the recent bushfire scorched bush.

WORST WEATHER - The strong headwinds on day one of the Kangaroo River kayaking trip. It made the noirmally calm waters of Lake Yarrunga very choppy.

TOUGHEST ASCENT - The ascent to Meryla Pass on Griffins Trail

BEST VIEW - The view from Folly Point Lookout (Aug/Sep)

The view from Folly Point Lookout showing Byangee Mountain to the far left, The Castle to its right, Shrouded Gods,
Mount Cole, Donjon and part of Bibbenluke Mountain to the far right. Holland Gorge below us.

BEST CAMPSITE - Griffins Farm - Max and I had perfect weather, a nice level site with clean water access, great views of surrounding mountains, a well-built communal fireplace with plenty of firewood and abundance of wildlife

WORST CAMPSITE - North Era with the nearby yobbo's on the Royal Coast Walk - Gary, Vicki and I found them to be noisy, abusive and inconsiderate.
