Honour Rolls Kendall Cottage Memorial George Asher Hamon enlisted early in the war, and after
being in camp for some time contracted pneumonia, his
condition at one stage being serious. He recoverd and was
discharged, returning home to Milton.
Regaining strength in due time he again sought to enlist,
at first was turned down, but later was passed, and sailed
for England in mid 1916. The though of being home while men
were needed at the front was always tasteful to George
Hamon, and he took upon himself the duty he deemed to be
his.
He has been called back to make the supreme sacrifice,
and though he would not return to us in the flesh his memory
will be treasured as one who stood between home and loved
ones and an avaricious and relentless enemy seeking to bring
our nation under the accursed Prussian heel. To his bereaved
parents and brothers and sisters and relatives we extend our
deepest sympathy.
