Notes |
Kitty trained as a nurse at Sydney Royal under the name of Lawrence (her grandmother's maiden name) as there was already another nurse Porter enrolled for training. It is not known when she reverted to her correct name. Kitty received the Royal Red Cross for her service to the armed forces caring for the injured during the war. The citation was issued a fortnight after she passed away. The medal was present to her Mother at a ceremony in Milton by representatives of the AIF and the British Army. The medal had added oak leaves because Kitty had been mention in dispatches. She received the ARRC (Associate Royal Red Cross Decoration) in 1919 and was mentioned in dispatches 31st December 1918 whilst attatched to the No. 25 General Hospital. |
