Albert Einstein

Albert Einstein was one of the most famous Scientist who ever lived. He worked out a revolutionary theory that changed the way that scientist understood the world. It led to many discoveries in space and helped other scientist to develop both deadly & life saving machines.

Albert Einstein lived from 1879 to 1955, a time of change and discovery. Albert Einstein was born on the 14th March 1879, in the city of Ulm, Wurttumberg, which is placed in South Germany. His father Herman, was an engineer, he ran his own business. He bought his son maths puzzles and scientific toys to play with. His mother was a Housewife and had a great talent in art. He also had a sister named Maya who was younger than him. Einstein did not like school even though he was good at maths.

When he was 17 he moved to Switzerland, to go to college and to avoid joining the army, which he did not like the sound of. He also gave up his German Citizenship.

In 1900 he left college and became a teacher, which he enjoyed. He also liked going to concerts, playing his violin and spending time with friends in coffee shops, chatting, joking and talking Science. He fell in love with a Scientist named Mileva Maric. Later married and had two sons.

In 1902 he was working as an expert investigator for the Swiss government. He checked claims made by Inventors who had new designs. His Scientific career had begun.

From 1905-1915, he was very busy; he kept on studying and gave up his job to become a Uni Professor. He wrote many Scientific Papers and travelled the world. He also met other Scientist and campaigned for justice and World Peace. All this was possible because in 1905 he found a revolutionary theory called relativity. It provided a new way of measuring space, time and gravity. It solved puzzles that have puzzled Scientist for years.

Using this new knowledge, they invented all kinds of things from weapons to life saving machines. At first only one professor understood this theory. After he published another lot of papers on his theory, other scientists began to realise what it meant.

Albert Einstein was famous and moved backed to Germany in 1914 to take director of the Kaiser Wilhelm Institute, which was the best scientific job in Germany. In the 1920's Albert Einstein received awards from all over the world. He also got World's Favourite Scientist because he never became too proud and had a great sense of humour. But his fame did not save him a new terrible danger.

In 1932 the Nazi's became powerful, their aim was to make a 'pure' Germany by forcing the 'aliens' such as gypsies and Jews to leave. Albert Einstein was a Jewish supporter and in 1933 left for the USA and set foot on European soils again.

Americans were proud to welcome Einstein. So he was able to continue his work at the Princeton University. Einstein helped make an atomic bomb. Later he saw the damage that the bomb did and called for them to be banned. He also warned people about uncontrollable Science. By 1950 Einstein got ill. He still continued with is job as a Scientist and his fight for world piece.

But on the18 April 1955 he died at the age of 76 in Princeton, New Jersey, USA.
