Boats, We have 2 boats,

  1. Flood boat 1 is a conventional "V" hulled vessel with a 70 hp outboard motor and forward steering.
  2. Flood boat 2 is a large punt with a 40 hp outboard motor and aft steered.

Both boats are equipped with the same safety gear and navigation equipment and, of course, radios. They are equipped and prepared for use on inland waterways and may be required for many varied tasks from evacuation of persons or domestic animals threatened by flood, to providing stock feed drops to farm animals in the same situation.

Occasionally we are asked to assist other emergency services to transport their members to islands or remote areas to allow them to complete their tasks.

The course for Flood Boat Operators is a really enjoyable course if you like messing around in boats. It's very hands on and of course it teaches you heaps too. If this sounds good to you then check out How to Join.

 Who says a punt isn't a go-fast boat?

I guess it depends on who's driving!
